Great lamp...but only mood lighting, August 10, 2008

Big bang for $59.00 but I put in an energy saving bulb (the equivlent of the 120w recommended bulb)and at best it is mood lighting, meaning the shade just glows and gives off minimal light.

This lamp is solidly put together and shines light on a specific work area. The glass shade is greatly adjustable so you can control how much light is needed for different tasks. Also, it is heavy lamp, which doesn't slide or sway. The new long-life energy saving florescent bulbs work very well. I use a 10w which gives lots of light. For my situation, I debated between buying a LED lamp and this older fashion design. I'm glad I chose this one. I find the lamp and the shade to be attractive. Delivery time was excellent. I am very satisfied with this desk lamp.

It took a while for my lamp to arrive, but I was very happy when it did. It's not often you can find a really well built lamp these days. I think this unit is definitely worth the money.

I especially like the inner white bulb reflector. You can't see that in the picture, but it serves to focus the light and keep the outer dome cooler.

The outer dome has a little handle to make quick adjustments easy without getting your hands heated up by grabbing it directly.

I'm sure heat wouldn't be as much of an issue with a compact fluorescent. But I hate the light that those things give off and the flickering drives me nuts. Additionally, I'm not interested in having mercury in my house.

Long live the incandescent!!!

I bought this lamp for my sons room. He is four years old, and breaks a lot of stuff, so I didn't want anything expensive, but I needed a lamp that would give out enough light in his room, and at the same time look nice and dynamic in his room. I like the lamp; the lamps adjustable arms are great for directing light where you want it. My son loves it because it is a fun looking lamp. The package it came in was small, it was easy to assemble. I actually love the lamp.

Bright, versatile task light that won't burn you, March 8, 2010

This task light is very bright and it is very easy to position the light where you want it. The best thing is that the LEDs don't get hot so you don't get burned on them like you do with those halogen lights. The plastic case is a bit flimsy, but it does help keep the whole thing light in case you want to carry it around. The fact that it folds up into a neat little package also makes it very portable. The other cool feature is that you can power it from your USB port on your laptop. I use it to illuminate my laptop keyboard.

Great lamp!, January 30, 2010

I bought mine 5 or 6 years ago as well and recently decided to get another as a gift. This lamp is no gimmick, it's the real deal. It is very bright and truly does make it easier to read, see what you're doing, and so on. It's well worth the asking price. The bulbs last a long time and these lamps use very little power, so they are cheap to operate. They are well made, too.

I took the time to post this review because I like to recognize products that actually deliver what is promised and are a good value.

Great Desk lamp, January 8, 2010

This lamp gives off an ample amount of light. I use it as a Computer desk lamp and to shed light on model cars I build. It does give off a few light clicks, but that is just when it is first turned on, and is caused by the expanding metals and plastics. It is to be expected with any halogen lamp since they produce a high amount of heat around they bulb. Overall this is the perfect lamp for me.

A very nice desk lamp, February 3, 2010

Assembly was very easy. The lamp just plugs in end-to-end-to-end. I'm using the large base to put the lamp on the desk. The package includes a clamp that could mount the lamp to the edge.

It's just the right size for my corner desk, the arms are long enough to span a pair of monitors to center above my work surface. The light is focused just right for my application not producing too much glare on my screens, to my eyes, but at the same time illuminating my desk correctly. The four levels of brightness are nice and I find the low is enough to help a bit and the high is very bright. The arms are very flexible and I haven't found an angle or location I couldn't get the lamp to, very nice.

The fit and finish are first rate and the lamp looks very high tech.

Very happy with the lamp / Great lamp for reading and computer work, March 3, 2010

Hello all!

I bought the lamp some months ago. And I think it is one of the best investments ever made. I am a European exchange student at UCSD. For my graduate work, I have to do a lot of reading and stay a lot of time in front of the computer.

This lamp is really great for this purpose.

Design. It is bigger as it looks in the photo. Also my house-mates, my friends and I really like the design of this lamp (I have to add I was unsure whether to buy this lamp because I did not like the shape that I saw on the web picture).

Quality of the light. I am awake and read often until the morning hours and this lamp always keeps me company. Also tonight, first I was looking at the computer for some minutes and I had some eye strain (without the lamp). Immediately I took the lamp from my room, positioned it again near my computer and , voilà, I can work without problems. The quality of the light is really good.

Overall, I think this a great product. When I go to my friends and I have to study, I nearly wanted to take the lamp with me in order that I can read in the night without problems. I think that that explains it all!

What can I say? Nothing too fancy. It is a lamp. And it works well. I read some other reviews which complained about the on-off switch not being on the base. With all due respect, almost all of the desk lamps I have used in the past did not have an on-off switch on the base. And I am not so lazy to get up from the chair to switch off the lamp, and honestly, I don't have to even if I do feel lazy at some point of time. I can easily reach to the switch on the wiring from my chair to switch it off. It all depends on how you set it up on your desk. It is a good lamp. It has a large base with a lot of space to keep your stationery. That is a good feature. The bulb that comes along with the lamp is a good one. It is bright yet it does not emit much heat. The lamps I have used in the past made me feel like I was burning in hell. But, that is more the feature of the bulb rather than the lamp. Hey, but still...they give you the bulb for free with the lamp, instead of being cheap-scape. So, to sum it up, it is a good lamp with good large base that does not emit much heat. I am happy with it. And the price is very reasonable. The worse lamps I have bought before cost more.
